Suhl, Germany

Thuringia
Population 36,000
Twinned on 15 November 1988

First mentioned in the 14th century, gunsmiths have settled in Suhl since the 16th century. Till today guns are produced here, which gave the city the nickname "Armourer of Europe". Therefore, it is no wonder that shooting as a sport is of great importance (European Championship 1971, World Championship 1986) and that in the former malt-house a weapon museum has been set up.

Moreover, Suhl has beautiful timbered houses, a nicely redeveloped old town, a modern congress hall, as well as the Thuringian Forest all around. Whether you want to take part in cave explorations or mining tours or hike up to the Rennsteig or do mountain climbing, you can’t go wrong!

Suhl, Thuringe, Allemagne
36 000 habitants
