Dealing with Local Authorities
How do I become a Würzburg resident?
When you start studying, you're quickly overwhelmed with organizational items. The employees at the Würzburg town hall know that well. That's why the city's administration wants to make it as easy as possible for all those moving here. At the town hall citizens office, the "Bürgerbüro", the most important errands can therefore be accomplished in one visit.
The citizens’ office registers not only the newcomers but also their cars; it takes care of passport matters, runs a lost-and-found and much more. And the citizens’ office is available in digital ways, too. The website of the City of Würzburg provides a listing of documents the town hall visitors should take along for their requests. To avoid waiting in line, you can also schedule your appointment online.
Primary Residence campaign
Studying at one of the three Würzburg universities and moving one's primary residence to Würzburg means cash in hand: the city contributes 30 Euros to the semester ticket for all newly arrived students for two entire semesters. In addition, students receive a coupon booklet with many discounts and free entrances worth over 100 Euros.
First: Registering your residence at the Würzburg city office, the "Bürgerbüro", Town Hall, Rückermainstr. 2, 97070 Würzburg
Second: Department for "Staatsangehörigkeits- und Ausländerangelegenheiten" (nationality issues and foreigners affairs).

Support for students with children
University
Of course it is possible to be a student and still have a family. That's why the university has established a family service which helps the students organize their studies all around their child and assists them in examination matters. The family service also offers qualified child care for toddlers starting at two months of age at the university-owned Infant and Toddler Daycare, and for school children all-day on-campus events during vacation time. For more information on university offers for child care and counseling, useful tips and addresses, go to www.familienservice.uni-wuerzburg.de.
Studentenwerk Würzburg
It´s another helper in organizational and financial matters and assists even as early as during pregnancy. For toddlers ten months and older, they provide qualified day care. The "Elternverein Studentische Kinderkrippe Würzburg e.V." parents association has been offering child care for many years. The child care concept has been designed especially for studying parents. For information on day care, go to www.kinderkrippe-wuerzburg.de, for information on studying with children, see also www.studentenwerk-wuerzburg.de
